Insurance firm Autonet has announced plans to create 60 apprenticeships in Stoke-on-Trent in a huge new recruitment drive.

The vehicle insurance specialist is to grow its headcount by over 25 per cent as it is set to take on 260 new permanent staff in the coming months, with almost a quarter of the new positions open to young apprentices in Stoke.

Most positions will be in the sales and customer services area of Autonet’s business model and successful applicants will be put through their paces over 10 weeks at the insurance firm’s training academy in Burslem.

The move will see Autonet, which was recently acquired by leading global investment group HPS Investment Partners, boost its staffing levels from around 600 to more than 850 within the next year.

Donna Sturge, Public Relations & Marketing Executive for the firm, said: “Autonet is a growing business, it is one of the fastest growing businesses in the area and we need more staff to support that. We are looking for people who want a career. Some people think of call centres as a bit of a stop gap job before moving on to other things, but there is a lot of progression opportunities within Autonet.”
