EE To Create Over 250 New Call Centre Vacancies In North East

EE, the mobile network operator and ISP, is to almost double its headcount in Darlington and North Tyneside by creating over 250 new full and part time jobs in the North East.

EE already employs around 300 member of staff at its North East call centres but has now announced plans to recruit a further 260 people in the two areas.

In order to improve customer service levels, EE has pledged to employ all of its call centre staff in the UK and Ireland rather than outsourcing it abroad. The company, which employs more than 15,000 members of staff across its business, confirmed that the new reshored jobs will be split equally between their Darlington and North Tyneside contact centres, with around 130 vacancies up for grabs in each call centre.

Commenting on the recruitment drive, Marc Allera, chief executive of EE, said:

“Earlier this year, we set out ambitions to transform the experience and service we provide our customers, including returning all customer service roles to the UK and Ireland. We’ve had fantastic feedback from our customers about the changes we’ve made so far and the number of complaints has plummeted - but we’re not stopping there. There’s still more we want to achieve and we’re creating over 550 additional service jobs here in the UK to fully onshore all customer service roles, and provide the best possible experience for our customers.”
