A new Ikea warehouse is set to create around 120 full or part time jobs in Northamptonshire and the Swedish firm moves into a new facility in Corby.

The new 150,000 square foot IKEA warehouse will open in the next few weeks at the Prologis Eurohub site where it will join existing tenants like Wincanton and iForce.

The warehousing and distribution facility will be managed by supply chain and freight management firm CEVA Logistics who will be recruiting for dozens of new staff in the near future.

Confirming the news, an Ikea spokesperson said: “We can confirm that CEVA Logistics has been appointed to manage a 150,000 sq ft warehouse in Corby, Northamptonshire, to support the growth of our online sales channel. CEVA will undertake a number of customer order fulfilment tasks from the site as part of their contract, which is due to commence in January 2016.”

A spokesperson for CEVA Logistics gave more detail of the jobs which be available at the new IKEA facility in Corby, saying: “CEVA will undertake inbound, picking, packing, loading and e-fulfilment activity from the site. Up to 120 employees will be recruited for the new site.”

IKEA is a massive employer in the UK, providing full and part time jobs for over 10,000 people in a wide variety of roles. Worldwide, the Scandinavian retailer employs almost 150,000 people. Last year their UK sales were £1.57 billion, an increase of more than ten percent on their previous financial year.
