Pizza Hut has teamed up with Manchester Metropolitan University to offer degree level programmes in a move which will create 1,500 new apprenticeships for young people in the UK.

Whilst working and studying, the Pizza Hut apprentices will learn about guest service, hospitality leadership, food production and financial analysis and can achieve a range of qualifications - from a level one right up to a full degree - with an average of 300 apprenticeships to be created each year over the next five years.

Director of Human Resources and marketing at Pizza Hut, Kathryn Austin, said that the company’s employees were ‘truly at the heart of our business’ because they offered customers an unrivalled experience. In that regard Ms Austin said they were ‘delighted’ to be an industry leader with their new degree level programme in the UK.

“The launch of our apprenticeships comes at an exciting time for our business as we continue to make headway in our refurbishment programme. Over the next few years we will work hard to provide our apprentices and team members with the best training and development so that we can equip them with skills for life, not just for working in a restaurant,” added Ms Austin.

Commenting on the new Pizza Hut apprenticeships, Minister of State for Skills and Equalities, Nick Boles, said: “Apprenticeships add value to our businesses and workforce right across the economy. These apprenticeships at Pizza Hut Restaurants will offer even more people the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge while working. I would encourage more businesses to take the lead from companies like Pizza Hut Restaurants to start or expand their apprenticeship programmes.”
