800 Peterborough Christmas Retail Jobs At Queensgate

The Queensgate Shopping Centre is to create over 800 temporary Christmas jobs in Peterborough this year.

Over 2 in 5 companies based at Peterborough’s Queensgate shopping centre will be adding full or part time staff in seasonal retail roles for Christmas 2015, and most of the vacancies will be perfect for university students returning to the city for the holidays.

Big retailers and department stores like Argos, BHS, Boots, Card Factory, Fat Face, Game, HMV, Jack & Jones, John Lewis, Lush, Marks & Spencer, Next, Pandora, Primark, River Island, Superdry, Topman and Topshop are all taking on extra seasonal staff for the Christmas holidays at Queensgate.

Next will be the biggest provider of Christmas jobs at Queensgate, with almost 100 seasonal vacancies to be filled. Food outlets like Carluccio’s and Handmade Burger Co are also taking on more employees for the festive period in Peterborough.

Mark Broadhead, director of the Queensgate Shopping Centre, said: “Queensgate is one of the biggest employers in Peterborough with more than 2,500 local people employed throughout its 100 retailers, operational staff and management. The additional 800 positions are a huge boost to local employment and representative of the economic benefits Christmas brings to Peterborough city centre.”

And, calling on students in particular to apply for the Peterborough holiday jobs, Mr Broadhead added: “If you’re returning from university or looking for a means to gain additional income over Christmas, this is a key time to get your CV up to date and pick up the phone.”

Leader of Peterborough City Council, Councillor John Holdich, also encouraged students to apply for the Christmas jobs, saying, “It’s great to learn that Queensgate retailers are looking to recruit this number of temporary seasonal positions. These roles will be ideal for a number of people, not least the large of number of students who live in Peterborough, or those returning to the city from elsewhere.

Councillor Holdich added that were also many other options for holiday work in Peterborough this Christmas:

“Other businesses, including Royal Mail and Amazon, have also announced they are recruiting for seasonal roles in Peterborough and this is very encouraging for those looking for work over the festive weeks,” said Mr Holdich.
