Boots To Fill 7,000 Seasonal Jobs This Christmas

Boots are on a recruitment drive to fill 7,000 Christmas jobs for 2015, with a large percentage of the seasonal vacancies to be based at their Centrum 100 service hub in Burton upon Trent.

The 7,000 seasonal jobs at the chemist chain this year matches the number of extra staff that Boots took on in 2009 and 2010.

Almost a quarter of the Boots jobs this Christmas will be advertised at Centrum 100 in Burton, with 1,700 seasonal jobs to be on offer at the Staffordshire site. The other 5,300 Christmas jobs at Boots will be spread out across their network of stores all over the UK and at their customer support centre in Nottingham.

Commenting on this year’s drive to find thousands of seasonal staff, the senior resourcing manager for Boots UK, Jon Henderson, said: “This festive season Boots UK will be recruiting more than 7,000 temporary colleagues across our stores, Burton service centre and the customer support centre. These temporary roles will see a variety of new talent recruited into our business with staggered start dates from now until Christmas.”

And, offering some extra details about the 1,700 Boots jobs at Centrum 100 in particular, a spokesperson for the company said that they were looking for customer assistants who are cool-head and ‘really personable and friendly by nature’ in order to help them fulfil all customers over their busiest period of trading.

“There will be a range of contract hours available and no zero hours contracts will be offered. If you join as a Christmas customer assistant, we'll deliver all the training to ensure that you have the skills and knowledge you need to help our customers find the perfect present. In return for providing amazing customer care, you will benefit from lots of fantastic experience working within a supportive friendly team,” added the spokesperson.

Burton MP Andrew Griffiths described the news as fantastic and the director of Burton and District Chamber of Commerce Chris Plant, added:

“Hopefully some of these jobs will be taken by young people and give them their first taste of employment and give them vital experience to enable them to secure full-time employment in the future. The seasonal employment will provide a part-time solution for many out of work, but we are hopeful the opportunities will continue into the New Year.”
