Over 400 new full and part time hospitality and retail jobs in Newport will be on offer at the new Friar’s Walk shopping centre which is set to open in November at a cost of £90 million.

A jobs fair will be held on 9th September 2015 (10am til 4pm) at Newport Leisure Centre for anyone interested in filling one of the hundreds of hospitality and retail vacancies to be advertised by over a dozen employers.

The employer relationship manager for South East Wales Job Centre Plus, Dai Morgan, stressed that the jobs fair is for all employers in Newport, not just for the new tenants at Friar’s Walk. He also said that the fair would be ‘ideal’ for students and other people who want to work in hospitality or the retail sector, either in a part time job or a full time role.

Giving more detail about the jobs which will be on offer in and around Friar’s Walk, Mr Morgan added: “We are looking at about 400-plus jobs with organisations such as Cineworld, New Look, Nando’s, Le Bistrot Pierre, Prezzo, The Entertainer – which is just off Friar’s Walk, Mothercare, Frankie and Benny’s, TGI Fridays, Gourmet Kitchen Burger, Interserve, Coffee#1, Tiger Store and Chiquito. To give people an idea of numbers, we know that Nando’s is looking for 40 plus staff, TGI Fridays between 60 and 70 and Cineworld between 35 and 40.”
