Admiral Insurance is to create close to 300 jobs in South Wales as it expands it operations in the country.

Newport will get the largest share of the new Admiral Insurance jobs, with over 130 vacancies to be advertised by the firm. Swansea will see 100 new Admiral recruits, and Cardiff will be looking to fill a further 50 openings.

The new roles on offer at Admiral in South Wales will mainly be within the claims and renewals, legal section and sales functions at the insurance firm, but a number of other vacancies, such as customer services positions, will be advertised by the FTSE 100 company in the region too.

Commenting in particular on the 136 vacancies in Newport, some of which have already been filled, Ceri Assiratti, Admiral Insurance’s Head of People Services, said:

“We are regularly searching for talented people to join Admiral and it is very exciting for us to be able to recruit so many people for our Newport office. But it doesn’t stop there. Always looking towards the future, we will be recruiting more staff as our company continues to grow, reinforcing our commitment to the city for the future. We have a huge variety of different jobs available that we know will appeal to a lot of people in the South Wales area.”

Admiral’s Newport offices currently employ around 700 staff in full and part time roles, so, once the current round of recruitment in the unitary authority area is complete, the insurance group will account for more than 900 members of staff in the university city.

Local Newport councillor, Matthew Evans, welcomed the announcement, saying: “It’s more good news. When they originally signed up they did promise there would be room for considerable expansion and so far they have definitely lived up to their promises. It’s naturally extremely welcome for the city and let’s hope the expansion continues.”

Admiral Insurance is an even bigger employer in Swansea and Cardiff, with around 2,000 and 3,000 members of staff in those Welsh cities respectively.
