Aldi To Create 150 New Supermarket Jobs In The West Midlands

German chain Aldi is to create almost 150 new part time supermarket jobs in the West Midlands at both existing and planned stores in the region.

The new West Mids Aldi positions will be at 15 supermarkets in Staffordshire and the Black Country, with up to 100 store assistant jobs and 50 stock assistant jobs up for grabs in Brierley Hill, Brownhills, Burntwood, Dudley, Halesowen, Hednesford, Oldbury, Stafford, Wednesfield, and Wolverhampton. Hours will range from 10 to 30 hours a week, making these Aldi jobs a perfect proposition for students in the relevant parts of the West Midlands.

A handful of deputy store managers will also be recruited by Aldi for stores in the area.

Marius Manolescu, regional managing director for Aldi in the Midlands, explained why they were looking for so many new staff and expanded on the sort of candidate they were looking to attract:

“Our existing stores are continuing to grow in popularity, which has created an immediate need for store staff across the West Midlands. We also have plans to open a number of stores in the area in the coming year, and we require store staff to support this expansion. We are looking to attract applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds, including supermarket, fast-food and clothing chains, who can demonstrate relevant retail experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment,” said Mr Manolescu.

Starting salaries for the new Aldi recruits will be at least £7 an hour, but will be over £9 an hour for certain roles like the deputy store managers, especially if the candidate has previous relevant experience with a ‘proven track record of managing teams of eight people or more.’
