Aviva To Create 400 New Jobs In Norwich

Aviva has announced plans to create 400 new jobs in Norwich as it swells its headcount in the Norfolk city by around 8 per cent.

Most of the new full and part time jobs at Aviva will be customer service roles but there will also be a number of specialist jobs up for grabs too. The new recruits, working on the motor claims side of the Aviva business, will be based at the firm’s offices in Willow House on Norwich’s Broadland Business Park.

Director of operations for Aviva, Andrew Morrish, said: “We are recruiting 400 people over the next 12 months for our motor claims centre and life insurance business. Aviva has a great heritage in Norwich and we've been here for more than 200 years. We want to build in an area where we've been successful because that gives us confidence.”

The managing director of New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership, Chris Starkey, welcomed the Aviva announcement, saying: “It was particularly pleasing to hear about the wide variety of skills that will be needed for these new jobs, from customer service and personal communication skills to engineering, technical and legal. There is also a focus on flexible working and roles for different ages and abilities and it’s great to hear that Aviva is already working with our local colleges and universities to tap into those students who will be coming into the jobs market this summer.”

Unfortunately, the good news on jobs for Norwich is bad news for Manchester, Salford, Salisbury and Stretford, where Aviva are set to close offices by the end of next year, amid inevitable job losses for those areas.
