The Restaurant Group To Create 2,500 UK Jobs

The Restaurant Group (TRG), owner of the Frankie & Benny’s, Coast To Coast, Chiquito and Garfunkel’s chains, has announced expansion plans which will see it advertise approximately 2,500 new full and part time restaurant jobs in the UK this year.

TRG is betting on the UK’s growing level of disposable income being transferred into leisure time spending on nights out at the cinema and in local restaurants. To take advantage of big screen releases this year (such as the much anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey, Jurassic World and Star Wars: The Force Awakens) the group is planning to open up to 50 new eateries, many of them in close proximity to popular cinemas.

With an average of over 50 new full or part time restaurants jobs coming with each typical new opening, TRG could generate between 2,000 and 3,000 new positions across its famous brand names in the UK during 2015, as it expands its empire towards 500 outlets.

Last year’s financials for TRG look solid, with profits up almost 3 per cent for the full year, and a whopping 5 per cent in the very busy period of Christmas and New Year trading.

Manager of TRG, Danny Breithaupt, said: “The outlook for 2015 and beyond is very positive. After five years of decline, we are now starting to see increasing real incomes. Following 2014, which has been the weakest year for cinema admissions for many years, 2015 and 2016 are expected to show significant growth as a result of much stronger film release schedules,” he added.

If you can find some flexible work in one of your local bars or restaurants then you are laughing! As a student, you can work part time hours, earn decent money and top up your earnings with some tips. And the work experience you pick up when working behind the bar, waiting tables or in the kitchen, can be carried through to many other careers in later years (if this isn’t the sort of work you want for the rest of your life, that is).
