North West Pub Chain JW Lees To Create 1,000 New Bar Jobs

JW Lees, the North West brewery and pub chain, has said that it will create up to 1,000 new full and part time bar jobs in the UK as it expands over the next five years.

The historic firm, founded in the 1820s, currently manages just over 30 pubs in the UK - all in North West England and North Wales - but has ambitious expansion plans to triple their portfolio by opening at over 60 new North West locations before the end of 2019. With an average of around 15 vacancies opening up with each new pub, JW Lees expects to generate around 200 bar jobs each year and hopes to boost turnover to £100 million.

JW Lees’ managing director, William Lees-Jones, forecasts that the business will invest over £67 million as it expands and develops new pubs in new locations over the next five years. He said the company had posted record revenues in the last financial year and praised his employees for laying the foundations which are helping the firm grow stronger and create new bar job opportunities in the UK.

“It is paramount that we continue to put our people at the heart of our business because to achieve our plans we need to create 1,000 new jobs to serve our guests in our pubs and drive the business,” said Mr Lees-Jones.

“To be in Manchester today announcing over 1,000 new jobs for the north west in the next five years is a proud moment for all the JW Lees family,” added the managing director of the Middleton brewery.
