An extension at the Whiteley Shopping Centre looks set to create up to 180 new cinema jobs and restaurant vacancies in Hampshire.

The Phase Two complex extension, including a nine screen cinema and five new restaurants, will open next year, and, in addition to the 180 new permanent roles, the development will create a further 500 temporary construction jobs in the Hampshire town of Fareham.

The multi-screen cinema will create dozens of Cineworld cinema jobs and the new restaurants will include branches of Coast to Coast, Five Guys, Nando’s and Pizza Express. One further restaurant name will be revealed for the extended Whiteley Shopping Centre in the near future.

Whiteley Shopping Centre, already featuring big retail brands like Boots and Next, along with eateries and drinkeries such as Costa Coffee and Wagamama, created over 1,000 jobs before and after opening last year, and the new extension will generate further full and part time vacancies for students and local people in Hampshire over the coming months.

The manager of Whiteley Shopping Centre, Neil Carter, said that their first year in Fareham had been ‘absolutely amazing’ with good feedback from local shoppers and sales outstripping their original forecasts.

“It’s really exciting, this is phase two of our development and this really adds the evening entertainment element to the Whiteley experience. With the cinema, the restaurants and some other great new concepts that we will shortly be announcing, we’re going to have a really rounded offer for the day and for the evening,” said Mr Carter.
