According to the local council, Swindon is now the best place in the United Kingdom to hunt for full or part time jobs in the private sector.

The report, produced jointly by urban policy research unit Centre For Cities and the Local Government Association, picks out Swindon as a thriving hotspot for private sector jobs when compared to the rest of the UK.

By percentage of population, there are more private sector job opportunities available in the Wiltshire town than anywhere else in Britain.

The findings also lay claim to Swindon as a location with the slowest climbing house prices and as having a population which is growing at a quicker rate than most other areas of the UK.

Local councillors were quick to praise the new findings and support the number of private sector job opportunities available to students, young people and the general public in Swindon.

Justin Tomlinson, MP for North Swindon, said: “We have seen a month on month fall in unemployment. Swindon’s local economy is very strong; there is a good balance of public and private sector jobs. Swindon continues to attract new investment.”

Robert Buckland, South Swindon MP, agreed that his town was a both a fantastic place to find a job and set up home:

“At a time when private sector employment is growing significantly, Swindon is leading the way. Swindon's lifeblood is the hundreds of businesses, large, medium and small, that are delivering economic recovery,” said Councillor Buckland.
