Marks & Spencer, the famous British high street and online retailing brand, will advertise 12,000 temporary Christmas jobs this year.

Although not as many as the 20,000 seasonal jobs they offered at Christmas last year, the new announcement from M&S is still very welcome news for any students who want to work over the holidays this year. Many of the extra working hours required by Marks & Spencer this Christmas will be shouldered by existing part time employees putting in overtime.

A range of flexible hours will be available and Christmas roles on offer including customer assistants, check out staff and other support roles for M&S stores all over the United Kingdom.

Around 1 in 5 of the recruits who take on a Christmas job at Marks & Spencer tend to go on to work on a more permanent basis with the retailer once the holidays are over.

Retail director of M&S, Sacha Berendji, said: “Christmas is one of the busiest, most important times of the year for M&S. We want to do all we can to help our employees and customers at this time which is why our Christmas team will be bolstered through additional hours for our dedicated and loyal team as well as 12,000 brand new recruits.”
