TNT Post has selected the North West England city of Manchester as its first location outside of the capital to start offering a new range of postal services.

In a move to boost its delivery service outside of London, TNT has said that it will create up to 1,200 full or part time jobs in Manchester as it opens almost a dozen new offices in the wider Greater Manchester region.

A range of positions will be created - including postal delivery workers on bicycle and new staff to sort and organise mail for its extended services.

The firm already has a distribution facility at nearby town Warrington but TNT Post will now start to roll out more postal service offerings in the region from November onwards.

Speaking of his company’s move up north and the tens of hundreds of new jobs it will create, chief executive of TNT, Nick Wells, said that his company was delighted to announce the news and that TNT was passionate about creating new job opportunities in Greater Manchester.

“The postal industry is undergoing great change and I am proud that TNT Post is able to create new jobs for people who need them and also to provide career opportunities for those who want to progress in a growing company,” said Mr Wells.

As well as new jobs in central Manchester, the 1,200 new positions will include opportunities in Bury, Salford and Trafford. TNT Post says the new jobs are perfect for school and college leavers as well as other jobseekers.

Leader of Manchester council, Sir Richard Leese, said he was pleased that TNT Post had chosen to launch such a sizeable investment in the area and welcomed the 1,200 jobs that the delivery company was creating in Greater Manchester.
