More Amazon UK Jobs At New London Offices

Amazon UK has said that many new London jobs will be created in the next few years as it creates office space for 1,600 staff at a new base near Smithfield Market.

The new 12-floor offices at 60 Holborn Viaduct will consist of more than 200 square feet of floor space for both existing and future employees of Amazon UK. Hundreds of current Amazon employees will move into the new London offices before the end of the year, and more will follow as the company rolls out its recruitment plans over the next few years.

London Mayor, Boris Johnson, said the announcement was great news for the capital, which he described as a ‘leading global hub for tech talent.’

Christopher North, the managing director of Amazon UK, said the new London base would house ‘hundreds’ of current staff but added that it will also provide office space for hundreds of future employees that the company hires.

“Amazon has over 6,000 permanent employees in the UK and we will continue to create thousands of jobs in the coming years across the UK. We look forward to drawing from the capital's strong pool of talent as we continue to innovate and enhance our service for the benefit of all our customers,” explained Mr North.

Amazon UK also takes on thousands of temporary staff for peak sales periods, during which their ranks can swell to 15,000 employees in the United Kingdom alone.
