American Golf To Drive 250 UK Retail Jobs

11 Mar 2013

American Golf To Drive 250 UK Retail Jobs American Golf is about to tee off an expansion plan which will create up to 250 retail jobs in the United Kingdom.

The specialist golf retail firm has announced it will open around 30 new UK stores in the next three years and will create an average of over 8 jobs at each new outlet. The rapid expansion will see their business expand by 30 per cent from its current 100 American Golf stores before the end of 2016.

Chief executive of the American Golf chain, Kevin Styles, said that their efforts to expand their retail store format and e-commerce business had paid dividends over the last year. The company posted a turnover of over £130 million in the twelve months to the end of January.

“Last year was a game-changing one for the business. We delivered record sales and, more importantly, made some major improvements and investments to get the platform right for our next growth phase. Performance is our proposition and this is backed up by the expertise of our team,” explained Mr Styles.

The American Golf business also benefited from the recent achievements of the Europeans in the Ryder Cup and the interest in the game which players like Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy and England’s Luke Donald have fostered.
