22 Jan 2013

100 Nottinghamshire Jobs Filling Up At Sandwich Factory Over 100 new Nottinghamshire jobs are set to be filled at a sandwich factory at Worksop.

Solway Foods is ramping up production at its factory in the Manton Wood Enterprise Zone after receiving an increased level of orders in 2012. A total of 112 new full or part time Nottinghamshire jobs will be created as a result of the expansion.

Solway Foods, owned by the 2 Sisters Food Group, has been in operation for 25 years and boasts a turnover well in excess of £100 million a year. The company won the British Sandwich Industry Awards in 2011 and supplies supermarkets such as Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Morrisons.

Solway Foods employs around 1,500 staff in full time roles, part time jobs and seasonal positions at its two bases in Worksop and Corby. Parent company 2 Sisters has a total headcount of more than 18,000 employees.

General manager for Solway Foods in Worksop, Steve Bryant, explained why his company was performing well enough to supply new factory jobs in a difficult climate:

“The food industry overall remains tough and highly competitive, but the chilled sandwiches market is showing continued growth and by putting our customers at the heart of everything we do, we have been able to benefit,” said Mr Bryant.
