Lightwater Valley, a theme park and shopping attraction located in North Yorkshire, has revealed the welcome news that a new extension at the site will create over 30 new theme park jobs in the area.

The extension will see accommodation provided for visitors to the site near Ripon which features popular rides such as Black Pearl, Whirlwind and Raptor Attack.

In addition to the 30 plus new jobs that will be created, a further 243 jobs will be secured by the newly-agreed plans.

Investment of over £5 million will allow over 100 chalets to be built at Lightwater Valley, and new sports facilities will also be added now that Harrogate Borough Council have unanimously given the green light to the proposals.

Simon Edward, Marketing manager at Lightwater Valley, said this was just the first announcement from the theme park and that more big news would follow soon.

“We are really happy. My colleagues have worked very long and hard on these plans, it has been four years in the making. We estimate visitors will spend around one and a half days at the theme park and will visit nearby attractions like Fountains Abbey, Knaresborough and Harrogate,” said a delighted Mr Edward.

Work will begin on the extension later this year and the new theme park facilities are expected to be ready to open in the first half of 2014.
