Jobs In Scotland On The Rise

17 Dec 2012

Jobs In Scotland On The Rise New figures from the Bank of Scotland indicate that there is a positive outlook on Scottish jobs going forward.

There was some good news on temporary positions and part time jobs in Scotland but it is in the market for permanent work that Scottish jobs are starting to look strongest. Wages for both temporary and permanent jobs were up north of the border during the November period that the report considered.

The Bank of Scotland report is made up of figures from recruitment agencies across the country. Edinburgh was impressive on permanent positions and Dundee was singled out as a strong candidate for both temporary and permanent jobs.

Rises were posted in various sectors across Scotland, but it was in the field of IT & Computing where the biggest rises were seen.

Donald MacRae, chief economist at the Bank of Scotland, spoke with confidence about the latest jobs figures, saying: “Despite the economic slowdown employers continue to hire, suggesting a rising trend in business confidence.”

Just at the end of last week, we wrote about the big drop in UK unemployment as a whole, and followed up with a more detailed blogpost about how the news might affect the number of student and graduate jobs available.

Hopefully, these latest figures from the Bank of Scotland are a further indication that the market for jobs all over the UK is on a positive upward trend and that we will see more positions for students, graduates and young people generally next year.
