800 Hull Wind Energy Jobs Blowing In The Wind

30 Nov 2012

800 Hull Wind Energy Jobs Blowing In The Wind Siemens could create between 700 and 800 jobs in the student city of Hull if the UK government passes agreement for wind energy plans there in the New Year.

In addition to the hundreds of direct jobs in Hull that the deal would create, Siemens estimates that between two and three thousand more full or part time jobs would be secured indirectly through the supply chain and support channels.

Siemens say that their investment plans for Hull are ‘on track’ but that negotiations are still taking place with both the government and potential customers in the area. It is expected that a decision will be reached next year before the final publication of the Energy Bill.

“While we do need some time to assess its content and implications, our initial reaction is that the Bill does address some of the key issues that have previously created uncertainty in the market. The renewables industry has enormous potential for the UK economy to generate growth and create many thousands of new jobs,” said Siemens.

The Siemens company employs 13,000 people in the United Kingdom so the new Hull wind energy jobs would amount to a significant increase in their staffing levels in the UK.

If you are studying in the lovely university city of Hull then why not find a part time job to keep you busy? (as if you didn’t have enough to do by just being a student!)
