Recruitment skills shortage

17 May 2007

Recruitment skills shortage Students graduating with recruitment qualifications and experience are well-placed to go far - because the recruitment industry is suffering from a severe skills shortage.

As Onrec.com reports, a lack of suitably-qualified staff means that businesses are struggling to grow effectively.

A recent survey of recruitment consultancies by law firm Nabarro showed that the sector as a whole was doing very well. Nearly all the companies involved predicted growth in the next five years.

However, a lack of staff with appropriate qualifications was seen as the most significant factor limiting future growth.

Iain Newman of Nabarro said "[the] lack of suitably qualified staff is clearly top of mind for most directors in the recruitment sector.

"This clearly indicates that directors need to focus on positioning their companies favourably with regard to their competitors in the years ahead if they are to win the fight for the best staff."
