New Store In Cheltenham To Create 150 Gloucestershire Jobs
Whole Foods Market, the biggest retailer of natural and organic food in the world, is set to open its first English store outside of London, creating 150 full and part time jobs in Gloucestershire in the process.

The new Whole Foods Market store will be based at the former Homebase outlet on the Gallagher Retail Park in Cheltenham and will open later in 2012 – possibly in September if everything goes to plan.

Jeff Turnas, regional president of Whole Foods Market, said he was excited about the new store in Cheltenham as there was a vibrant food community in the area and a wealth of local produce suppliers across Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds.

The 150 full and part time jobs in Gloucestershire that will be created are expected to include positions for bakers, fishmongers and butchers – and Whole Foods Market say they will train up all new employees.

Councillor Bernard Fisher of Cheltenham Borough Council was pleased with the new store and the jobs it will bring to Gloucesterhsire: “It's great news for the area – especially in terms of jobs. We need all the jobs we can get. It's a welcome addition and it's nice that we are the first store to be set up in England, outside London. It really does show that companies continue to think Cheltenham is a good place to do business, which it is.”
