Survey Indicates Importance Of Pubs For Norwich Jobs A survey mentioned in the Norwich Evening News has highlighted just how important pubs and beer are for jobs in Norwich. The article focused on how students and young people in particular were dependent on pubs for work in Norwich.

There are over 170 pubs and five breweries in the Norwich South and Norwich North area and between them they provide jobs for almost 2,700 people.

Over 30 per cent of the jobs were filled by students and young people under the age of 25. The pub and beer trade in Norwich currently provides full and part time jobs for over 800 people.

Clive Hitchens, the manager of the Lamb Inn in the city centre of Norwich, spoke of how the recession had led to more and more young people applying for jobs at pubs all over the city:

“When we reopened we hired a lot of young people. And because of the current state of the economy there are now many more young people looking for work. There are good job prospects for people who start at pubs and have degrees and other qualifications, who can go on to be managers,” said Mr Hitchens.
