Travelodge Makes Room For 5,000 Hospitality Jobs In London
Budget hotel chain Travelodge has said it will create up to 5,000 hospitality jobs in London over the next 13 years.

1 in 10 of the new hotel jobs that the firm will advertise before 2025 will be part of Travelodge’s junior management apprenticeship programme (JuMP) which aims to get young people into the hospitality industry. There are 20 London vacancies on the JuMP scheme right now.

The new jobs will be created in phases as Travelodge aims to open over 180 hotels in London before 2025. Just last week, Travelodge hit a milestone as it opened its 500th hotel, taking its London tally to over 50 hotels.

Speaking of how hospitality is a great sector for students and young people to get into, Travelodge’s chief executive, Guy Parsons, said: “Hospitality and tourism is the UK's fifth biggest industry and is growing faster than almost any other. Travelodge is a powerhouse of the industry, which is why we are continuing to create jobs. JuMP has proved to be an incredibly popular scheme. At the start of the year we received over 3,000 applications for just 45 positions. Hospitality is an excellent sector in which young people can develop successful careers.”

Mayor of London, Boris Johnson welcomed the news and said that the thousands of jobs and opportunities that Travelodge are creating are ‘warmly welcome in tough economic times’.
