29 Oct 2011

1,500 Full Or Part Time North West Jobs At Waitrose Waitrose, the supermarket chain, is set to create around 1,500 full or part time North West jobs over the next five years with a series of new stores in the region.

The grocer says it will open at least 10 new stores in the region over the next five years, creating hundreds of full and part time job opportunities for people in the North West.

Back in March, we brought you the news of a predicted 600 Chorley jobs at Waitrose and those full and part time positions will come to fruition next autumn. In addition, the supermarket chain will add a further 900 jobs with the addition of further outlets to its portfolio in the North.

The total cost of the new store investment is forecast to be around £100 million and will more than double Waitrose’s presence in the North West. Nationwide, the supermarket has close to 250 outlets but currently only operates from 8 locations in the North West

Supply Chain Director at Waitrose, David Jones, spoke about his company’s expansion in the North recently:

“This marks another exciting chapter in our history and the growth of the Waitrose brand in the north west. We have really begun to establish our brand here and we are looking forward to making a continued investment and creating new jobs in what is rapidly becoming a heartland territory for us,” said Mr Jones.
