Asda To Fill 7,000 Christmas Jobs In 2011

16 Aug 2011

Asda To Fill 7,000 Christmas Jobs In 2011 Well, it might only be August, but the Christmas holiday jobs are already rolling in! Just a couple of days back, we brought you news of 7,000 Christmas jobs at Boots in 2011.

And now Asda has become the latest big company to announce their recruitment plans for the Christmas holidays in 2011. Like Boots, Asda have also announced that they will need 7,000 little helpers to get them through the busy festive period this year.

Asda is spending £5 million on customer service for Christmas to help keep everyone in their stores in a festive mood over the holidays. Part of that spend will cover the wages of the 7,000 extra full and part time staff they will start to recruit for Christmas from September onwards.

As well as holiday jobs in customer service, Asda will also be advertising home delivery roles and positions on their shop floors. Staff who are already on the payroll at Asda are also set to be able to squirrel a bit more away over Christmas as there will be 750 thousand hours of overtime to be worked during the holidays and in the run up to it.

Chief Executive Officer and President of Asda, Andy Clarke, explained why these jobs and their customers were so important: “Our customers love Christmas – and they want everything to be just right – that’s why we’re bringing in 7,000 extra pairs of hands to make sure it goes without a hitch. Extra help to our customers when they need it most and much needed job opportunities in our local communities.”

If the news of these 14,000 Christmas jobs from Boots and Asda has whetted your appetite for a bit of holiday work to help fill your stockings, then keep a very close eye on our Part Time Jobs & Holidays Work page for all of the latest summer jobs, Easter opportunities and Christmas positions.
