Rank Group, the gaming company recently acquired by the Malaysian firm Guocco, has announced plans to expand its portfolio of casinos. The move will create a possible 1,400 full or part time jobs over the next three years in locations throughout the United Kingdom.

Rank is the group behind the Mecca Bingo and Grosvenor Casino names. They are hoping to boost the number of casinos they run to 45 in the next three years. Possible areas for the new casinos include Manchester, Stockton-on-Tees and Merseyside.

The Rank Group are looking to add some pizzazz to their future range of casinos by including poker rooms, bars and live entertainment at the new venues. The aim is to attract a younger element to their establishments to compete with other popular places for a night out.

Grosvenor will rebrand these new, funkier gambling houses as ‘G-Casinos’ and will need to advertise 1,400 full and part time jobs to help them entertain their members and guests.

At the moment, Grosvenor has just short of 3,800 staff under their employ, so the new recruits will take their UK headcount to over 5,000 full and part time workers.

Both the casino and bingo sections of the Rank Group business have performed well so far this year. Casino takings are up almost 6 per cent in the first six months of the year and their bingo revenues are performing even better.

The new potential casinos in Manchester and New Brighton in Merseyside should help to boost their revenues even further over the coming years.
