11 Jul 2011

900 Full Or Part Time Staffordshire Jobs With Amazon Amazon, the online retailing leviathan, has announced that it will build a new processing centre in Rugeley, creating 900 full or part time Staffordshire jobs at the facility.

Forecast to be ready for action by September, the processing centre will deal with both United Kingdom and overseas Amazon orders.

The news of these 900 full or part time jobs in Staffordshire follows two announcements already from Amazon this year about over 1,800 jobs being created in Scotland.

Vice President of operations at Amazon in the UK, Arthur Valdez, said that the new staff would be particularly important in the run up to the Christmas holidays when orders reach staggering numbers.

The increase in Amazon’s presence in the UK will help the company meet consumers’ appetite for their Kindle reading device and other new items that they will branch out into.

Although Amazon is still perhaps most famous for selling books and CDs, they have now moved into both the food and fashion industries and are looking to expand in both sectors.

“The centre at Rugeley will play an important role in fulfilling orders for customers in the UK, Europe and all over the world. We have a busy Christmas coming up and look forward to assembling a team of talented people who will play their part in ensuring that customers receive the millions of items that will be ordered over the festive season,” said Mr Valdez.
