07 Jul 2011

1,000 New Full And Part Time London Jobs With Waitrose Waitrose is set to create 1,000 new full and part time jobs in the London area as it opens 20 small stores in the next year and a half.

Dubbed “Little Waitrose” outlets, the new convenience stores will intensify a London battle with competitors Marks & Spencer and Ocado.

The new full or part time jobs will be with the John Lewis Partnership which is the parent company of the Waitrose supermarket chain.

At the moment there are just 20 Waitrose convenience stores but it is anticipated that a further 13 new outlets will be opened before the end of 2011. 20 more Waitrose convenience stores could be opened throughout the course of 2012.

If the new shops are successful then Waitrose could expand its “Little Waitrose” empire further to reach a total of 400 outlets. Thousands more new jobs in London and elsewhere would be created in the process.

Mark Price, managing director of Waitrose, said that the supermarket chain was footing its foot on the gas to open these new outlets and create the thousand full and part time London jobs.

“We are rolling this out and now we want as many sites as we can get all over the country. The focus in the first instance is inside the M25,” said Mr Price.
