200 Full Or Part Time Cumbria Supermarket Jobs

29 Jun 2011

200 Full Or Part Time Cumbria Supermarket Jobs There could be up to 200 full and part time Cumbria jobs created if a new supermarket in Ulverston gets approval from South Lakeland Council and Cumbria County Council.

The new supermarket jobs could open up in Ulverston on the site of the old Robinsons Brewery and it is conceivable that the vacancies will be advertised before the end of 2012.

At face value it looks like the supermarket would be a great idea for Ulverston itself as 7 in 10 convenience products are purchased outside of the town by resident Ulverston consumers.

Nearby towns such as Barrow are benefactors of the lack of a major supermarket chain in Ulverston so the 200 full and part time jobs would also be a major boost for locals and students in the area.

A forecasted 110 full time jobs would be created by the yet-to-be-named supermarket and a further 90 or more part time Cumbria jobs are expected to be advertised if the supermarket and car park plans are approved.

The director of Robinsons Brewery, William Robinson, gave his reasons why he thought the project should go ahead: “We believe that this redevelopment of the old brewery site is good for the long-term future of Ulverston and its residents and traders. The location is ideal for offering pedestrian access to the town centre, without any need to cross a major roadway, and our vision is for the site to become a hub of activity within Ulverston.”
