17 Jun 2011

600 Full Or Part Time Call Centre Jobs In Cardiff Up to 600 full or part time Cardiff jobs will be created this summer as The Listening Company, a subsidiary of Serco, opens a new call centre in the Welsh city.

Based at Hodge House in the city centre on a 15 year lease, the majority of the new call centre recruits will help provide customer service provisions by telephone for clients including Littlewoods and Shop Direct Group. The 600 new full or part time Cardiff jobs will also consist of admin roles and sales staff.

Chief executive of The Listening Company, Neville Upton, praised the city of Cardiff and spoke with excitement about the new full and part time jobs: “We’re delighted that the growth in our business has provided us with the opportunity to establish ourselves in such a vibrant city centre. Not only does this move enable us to enhance our geographical spread and build on our relationships with key clients, it will lead to the creation of a number of exciting job opportunities and we expect to grow the business in the coming months and years.”

Edwina Hart, the Minister for Business, Enterprise, Technology and Science, was thrilled by the new Cardiff jobs and mentioned the valuable input from the Welsh Government in encouraging The Listening Company to set up in the city.

Ms Hart also pointed out that the new Cardiff jobs were particularly welcome coming as they do on the back of the bad news that Lloyds Banking Group would be shedding jobs in Bridgend, Wales, when they close a call centre there next year.
