UK Events Could Add 50,000 Full & Part Time Jobs

UK Events Could Add 50,000 Full & Part Time Jobs Big events in the United Kingdom - such as the recent Royal Wedding - could bring up to 50,000 full or part time jobs to the nation over the next four years.

The Royal Wedding itself created a real buzz in the UK and brought tons of new jobs in the preparation and organisation of the event. With both the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics taking place in London next year, thousands more full and part time positions could be created in the tourism sector.

These sorts of positions would be just perfect for anyone looking for student jobs as the hours involved are often very flexible.

There is a huge marketing push at the moment to showcase the UK as a wonderful tourist destination and these big events provide fantastic opportunities to promote both the nation and its events.

VisitBritain, the British Tourist Authority, is a major player in getting the message out about these UK events and the job opportunities they could create.

Culture Minister, John Penrose, recently said that the government would make the most of the tourism opportunities over the next four years by providing a £50million fund. They are also seeking British companies who would like to match that figure so that there is a total of £100million dedicated to promoting UK tourism.

“The marketing campaign is aiming to deliver four million extra visitors to the UK over the four years, £2billion in additional visitor spending and 50,000 new jobs across the country,” said Mr Penrose.
