Shopping Centre Expansion Could Create 2,000 Nottingham Jobs

26 Mar 2011

Shopping Centre Expansion Could Create 2,000 Nottingham Jobs 2,000 full and part time Nottingham jobs could be created if plans to expand the Victoria Centre in the city are approved.

The expansion would open up room for over 50 new shops and restaurants to open at the Victoria Centre which would create an estimated 2.000 full or part time Nottingham jobs in the process. A state of the art 10 screen cinema and a department store are also planned at the redeveloped site.

Speaking of the expansion plans and the new Nottingham jobs, the manager of the Victoria Centre, Richard Bowler, said, “We are committed to the city and are proud to launch a plan that will create thousands of jobs and make the trip even better for the millions who love to come to Nottingham.”

At the moment, around 23 million shoppers visit the Victoria Centre every year but it is hoped that the expansion will attract more local residents along with more customers from outside Nottingham. If the plans are endorsed then the expanded Victoria Centre could be ready by 2015.

Capital Shopping Centres who own the Victoria Centre also recently announced plans which could create up to 1,500 full or part time Essex jobs at the Lakeside Shopping Centre.
