Liverpool’s Central Village Could Create 3,000 Full & Part Time Jobs A new development by Merepark could create as many as 3,000 full or part time jobs in Liverpool by the time it is completed in 2013.

The £200 million Central Village development is to be built at the back of Liverpool’s Central Station in the city centre and will be made up of offices, retail and leisure outlets, a hotel and a multi-screen cinema complex.

Robert Ross, chairman of Merepark, said: “Central Village is Liverpool’s largest regeneration scheme and the next key employment site for the city. Central Village will create a whole host of opportunities working for some of the UK’s best leisure brands.”

Initially, up to 1,000 full or part time Liverpool jobs will be created during the construction of the Central Village project. A further 2,000 job vacancies could open up once the development is completed and occupiers start to look for staff to fill office jobs and retail positions. Other opportunities could include full and part time Liverpool jobs for chefs, hospitality managers and waiters.

Ross said that locals had responded with enthusiasm to the development and added that Central Village would give a very substantial boost to the local jobs market.

Liverpool Councillor Joe Anderson agreed: “I’m really excited about this news which heralds a brighter future for this area of the city centre. The jobs which will be created are a significant boost for Liverpool.”
