More Temporary Jobs For Christmas 2010

27 Nov 2010

More Temporary Jobs For Christmas 2010 Over a fifth of UK businesses plan on advertising more temporary jobs over the next few weeks to help them cope with the busy Christmas holidays.

The Recruitment & Employment Confederation has reported that 22 per cent of companies in the United Kingdom will try to fill temporary positions with agency staff over the next three months.

Earlier in the month, recruiters said that there might not be enough willing people to meet the rise in demand for Christmas staff this year. Businesses competing with each other to fill temporary jobs over the Christmas holidays, combined with jobseekers’ reluctance to work on short term contracts, has led to the expected staff shortage at the end of the year. That is great news for you if you are hoping to get a temporary job over the Christmas holidays in 2010.

It is typical every year in the run up to Christmas for employers to swell their ranks by placing short term staff into temporary jobs. However, this year, it seems like more of a continuation of the general trend towards recruiting employees on a more flexible basis.

Roger Tweedy of the Recruitment & Employment Confederation said: “The upward trend in both short and long term use of temporary staff confirms that employers view flexible resourcing options as the best way of gearing themselves up for economic growth.”

We have no shortage of temporary jobs, holiday jobs and part time jobs spread throughout the year and Christmas is no exception.
