Paddy Power, the Irish bookmaking firm, says it will create 1,440 new Australian, Ireland and UK jobs in the coming three years.

The company is seeking to expand and will bring over 800 full or part time jobs to the United Kingdom. In additional, there will be a further 500 job vacancies in Ireland and more than one hundred opportunities in Australia.

Paddy Power already employs around 1,700 staff in Ireland and business there accounts for about a third of their operating profit. The expansion drive will see their headcount in the country swell by almost 30 per cent to 2,200. Most of the new Irish jobs are in areas such as IT and online marketing at the firm’s headquarters in West Dublin. Over half of the 500 new full and part time jobs on offer will be filled by the end of next year.

Many of the 810 UK jobs will be created as Paddy Power looks to build on its existing retail interests in the United Kingdom. The betting company said that they hope to open around another 50 outlets in the UK in the coming years to help them expand.

Chief Executive of Paddy Power, Patrick Kennedy, said: “We are growing in retail. Our retail expansion is pretty massive in the UK. We are growing significantly on the ground — the Paddy Power formula is working. The growth is also in the technological sphere. There are a lot of positions in IT. We have a website called Workwithpaddy.com and have 86 positions open on that already and the new positions will come on online over the next couple of years.”
