Asda Pledges 7,500 New Full & Part Time Jobs Next Year Asda has said they will create 7,500 new full and part time jobs during next year by opening more new Asda stores, expanding their home shopping services and converting existing Netto outlets which it has acquired.

The 7,500 new positions are in addition to the thousands of job opportunities, apprenticeships and work experience placements that Asda have pledged to provide for young people. Earlier in 2010, Asda announced that they would open up 15,000 work experience placements, 15,000 apprenticeships and 10,000 seasonal jobs for youngsters.

Since 2005, Asda have created more than 30,000 UK retail jobs with the opening of 70 new outlets and an expansion of the home shopping side of its business. Next year, Asda hope to open between 10 and 15 more new stores and extend 5 others.

The majority of the new positions for 2011 will be for shopfloor staff - but there will also be 32 new jobs for pharmacists and further hiring of home shopping delivery staff and local store managers. The company also said that they currently have 3,000 full and part time jobs to be filled right now.

Chief Executive Officer and President of Asda, Andy Clarke, said: “I’m proud to say next year we will once again create thousands of new jobs at every level of our growing business. At Asda we always recruit for attitude and train for skill, so you needn’t have previous retail experience to apply. We’re simply looking for people who share our passion for customer service.”
