Permanent And Temporary Job Vacancies Rise Again In May

09 Jun 2010

Permanent And Temporary Job Vacancies Rise Again In May The new Report On Jobs, produced by the financial services company KPMG and the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), showed that both permanent and temporary job placements were on the rise again in May.

The Report on Jobs surveys around 400 employment and recruitment companies each month to assess the current state of the job market in the UK.

May 2010 became the tenth month in a row that permanent job numbers were up while wages and salaries for both permanent and temporary jobs also increased during the period. Singled out by the report as high demand professions were human resources, software developers, accountants, PR people and chefs.

This good news on permanent and temporary positions was tempered though by the fact the pace of growth had actually slowed down on the previous month.

Bernard Brown of KPMG, said of the increase in permanent and temporary jobs that, "While demand for staff from the private sector remains strong in some areas, the figures suggest that hiring activity in the public sector has started to slow down.”
