Number Of Full And Part Time Jobs Increases Again In May

31 May 2010

Number Of Full And Part Time Jobs Increases Again In May The Reed Job Index for May has shown a rise in the number of new full and part time jobs that are being offered by companies in the UK.

The index was set at 100 last December but has risen one point from 102 in April to 103 in May. The number of full and part time vacancies on offer in the charity and voluntary sector saw the greatest increases during the period. Also, picking up pace was the demand for people in accounting, secretarial, marketing and public relations. So, if you have experience in any of those fields, or would like to get some, then now could be the perfect time to look for a part time job in those fields.

Also encouraging was the fact that the index for public sector jobs has recovered from 74 in April to 97 in May.

Managing director of Reed.co.uk, Martin Warnes, said that it was encouraging that demand for full and part time jobs was up but warned that a full recovery in the job market could still be seen as fragile. Warnes added that, “although employers are still suffering from cost constraints, some are seizing this opportunity to recruit talented people at high value to help grow their businesses."
