5,000 Graduate Jobs In Investment Banking There was some more great news for those of you looking for graduate finance jobs in London and other parts of the UK this week. The Times reported that investment banks are offering thousands of finance jobs for graduates this year and are willing to pay big salaries for the best candidates.

During the previous three years, investment banks had around two and a half thousand graduate finance vacancies but this year it is expected that the sector will offer 5,000 places to graduates. The Times said that most banks will have around 200 to 300 graduate finance jobs up for grabs.

Martin Birchall, managing director of High Fliers Research who conducted the survey the Times reported on, said that most banks were now acting as is the recession had never happened. He added that there were also rumours that some of the banks could be offering as much as £50,000 for new finance jobs for graduates in London and other big cities.

The enthusiasm was also returning from the graduates themselves as well with applications for graduate jobs at investment banks up by 16% in 2010. Mr Birchall said that: “It’s fair to say that students are flocking back to the banks.”

And it is not just the investment banks who are gaining more interest from those looking for graduate jobs as actuarial job applications were up almost 30 per cent and consulting job applications by 8 per cent.
