Tesco, the supermarket giant, has raised the number of graduate job schemes it will offer this year.
Tesco’s graduate career schemes have been raised from 15 to 17 with the addition of new schemes in environmental engineering and telecoms. Existing graduate job schemes at Tesco include property, merchandising and store management.
Applications opened last week for the 2010/11 graduate job scheme intake and 191 graduates will join their workforce this month. A further 52 school leavers will also begin their careers with the company in September.
The head of UK Resourcing UK for Tesco, Lorna Bryson, said that, “We are very proud of our employment of university and school leavers and our employment through apprenticeships. As a company we are committed to investing in employee development and finding future talent-graduate recruitment will always remain a valued route for this.”
Next year Tesco are hoping to increase the numbers again by offering 200 graduate career opportunities across their schemes.
