Students are anything but lazy

26 Apr 2007

Students are anything but lazy Students are often teased for having too much time on their hands, but it seems this is a bit unfair.

There's plenty of evidence that students actually do a huge amount of voluntary and charity work during their degrees and that it's very much appreciated.

Education chiefs in York have praised students in the city. As reported in the York Press, Dianne Willcocks, York St John University vice-chancellor, said: "Their presence is also a big boost to the local economy.

"Students come to higher education in York as local people who will contribute more effectively to their community."

Students in York find time to regularly remove graffiti, raise money for several charities and work in a school to help develop young people's reading skills.

Recently, University of York students also helped youngsters at a secondary school renovate a youth room.
