We’re looking for a Barback to join our team at The Parakeet.
Located in the heart of Kentish Town, The Parakeet is an independent public house and dining room. In the front, a lively local pub atmosphere centred around a busy, characterful bar. In the back, an award-winning dining room serving Basque-inspired small plates cooked over coal and fire. Led by chef Ben Allen, our kitchen has received critical acclaim from The Times, The Evening Standard, and more.

As a Barback, you’ll play an important role in supporting the bar team and keeping service running smoothly. Working closely with our bartenders, you’ll help maintain the pace of service, keep the bar well stocked and organised, and contribute to the energy of the pub. This is a great opportunity to learn about drinks and hospitality while working in a busy, high-quality pub environment.
What you’ll do
- Support the bartenders by keeping the bar stocked, organised, and ready for service
- Prepare glassware, ice, garnishes, and bar stations throughout service
- Restock beer, wine, spirits, and bar supplies as needed
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness behind the bar and in storage areas
- Assist with glass collection and keeping the bar area tidy during busy periods
- Work closely with the team to ensure smooth and efficient service
What we’re looking for

- A strong work ethic and the ability to stay organised during busy shifts
- Someone who enjoys working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- An interest in hospitality and drinks
- Reliability and attention to detail
What to expect
- Competitive Pay: £12.71 per hour plus tronc (total package usually in the range of £12.71- £13.21 per hour). Hourly wages paid every two weeks on a Friday and tronc paid on the last Friday of the month.
- The is a lively pub and casual fine-dining restaurant, so our teams work a variety of daytime and evening shifts during the week.
