Undergraduate engineering internships can be a bit more exclusive than other types of placement (like retail internships for example) in that you’ll more than likely need to be studying an engineering degree to stand a chance of securing a place.
Student engineering internships are very wide and varied if you compare them to other types of placements for undergraduates. Some companies offer internships in engineering which can run for just two months, but most summer engineering internships last for 10 to 12 weeks - and many industrial engineering placements and internships can commit you for 12 months or even more.
Just some of the paid or volunteer placements that UK engineering students could apply for include: systems engineering internships, biomedical engineering internships, electrical engineering internships, automotive engineering internships, software engineering internships, petroleum engineering internships, chemical engineering internships, electrical engineering internships, mechanical engineering internships, civil engineering internships, electronic engineering internships, medical engineering internships and aerospace engineering internships.
