The Role

Realityjam is a game developer and studio platform building new pathways into the UK games industry. We are recruiting Junior Game Artist Apprentices to work alongside our studio team, creating world-building and in-game content for our MMO PC titles, including our current live title 5th Dimension.

International students and graduates are welcome to apply. Visa sponsorship is available for those who hold an existing student or graduate visa and have the right to work in the UK. Your existing visa should have around 12 months validity at the date of your application.

This is a 12-month apprenticeship (4 days per week, remote) combined with a post grad training pathway.

How the Pathway Works

This apprenticeship is the second stage of Realityjam's two-stage industry entry pathway, delivered in collaboration with Unity (www.unity.com). To be eligible for the apprenticeship, candidates must first complete the Scion Foundation Training Course — a 12-month, full-time (30 hours per week) game design and 3D art training course.

The Scion course is a funded training course. A course fee applies, and UK government student finance may be made available to eligible applicants. Full details — including costs, finance options, and how to enrol are at: www.realityjam.io/joinourmovement.

What You'll Do During the Apprenticeship

• Build game worlds and create in-game content for live MMO titles
• Work within our production pipeline using industry-standard tools including Unity and Blender
• Receive public attribution and professional credit for content you contribute
• Qualify as a Unity Certified Associate, gaining a globally recognised certification from Unity

Remuneration

• £17,000 base wage (part-time, 4 days per week)
• 22 days holiday per year (including UK bank holidays)
• Pension and sick pay
• Performance bonus structure offering up to £22,000 in total annual earnings

Content Monetisation

Applicants receive a 90% revenue share on player skins and tradeable in-game items they contribute to our games, with earnings of up to £10,000 per year for as long as their items remain in our titles. This opportunity is exclusive to apprentices and course participants.

Requirements

• UK residents only — you must have the right to reside and work in the UK and hold a UK residential address
• Completion of the Scion Foundation Training Course, or demonstrable equivalent skills and experience
• A portfolio (personal or professional) is an important part of the application process

What Comes Next

Following the apprenticeship, candidates may apply for a full-time role with our studio or access up to £80,000 in venture capital to build and launch their own game on our platform.

Working Arrangements

All work is managed remotely via Discord and Jira. Apprentices attend three 2-day in-person conference and game jam events 3 times per year for expert feedback and networking.
