We’re looking for a Sous Chef to join the team at The Parakeet.
Located in the heart of Kentish Town, The Parakeet is an independent public house and dining room. In the front, a lively neighbourhood pub. In the back, an award-winning dining room serving Basque-inspired small plates cooked over fire and coal.

This is a leadership role in a serious, food-led kitchen. Everything is built around quality ingredients, fire cooking and consistent execution. Standards are high, and the team takes pride in doing things properly.
As Sous Chef, you’ll work closely with the Head Chef to run the day-to-day kitchen. Leading service, supporting the team, and making sure every dish meets the standard. You’ll be a key part of the culture and the performance of the kitchen.
What you’ll do
- Support the Head Chef in running the kitchen day to day
- Lead service and ensure consistency across all sections
- Train, support and develop the team
- Manage prep, ordering and kitchen organisation
- Maintain food safety, hygiene and compliance standards
- Help drive standards, performance and team culture
What we’re looking for
- Experience as a Sous Chef or strong Senior CDP ready to step up
- Confidence leading service and managing a team
- Strong understanding of kitchen operations and food quality
- High standards and attention to detail
- A calm, organised and hands-on approach
