What’s the role?

Rooms Controller (Maternity cover)

About The Ned:

The Ned and Ned’s Club are a global collection of hotels, clubs, spas, and restaurants for like-minded individuals to meet, work and have a good time.

The Ned launched in 2017 in the heart of the City, in the former Midland Bank headquarters. The Ned City of London houses Ned’s Club - a private members’ space, gym and rooftop - alongside a public spa, a whole floor of event spaces, ten restaurants and bars and 250 hotel bedrooms.

Reporting into the Front Office Manager, you will:

  • Plan room assignments, room inventory, luggage drops, and amenity deliveries to make sure every guest’s room is available and set up to perfection in time for their check-in and arrival
  • Communicate efficiently across departments – it takes co-ordinated and synchronised effort from front office, concierge, room service, housekeeping, engineering, and more to keep our room operations slick and timed just right
  • Advise housekeeping and engineering on ideal times to carry out preventative maintenance and larger cleaning jobs without disrupting guest experiences
  • Review arrivals, requests, resumes and group bookings to make sure we always catch the finer details that make each stay meet and exceed the guest’s expectations
  • Maximise our revenue by keeping our rooms turning efficiently and our room inventory optimal

What you can bring to the role:

  • It goes without saying that your organisational skills will be second to none, you’ll be the hidden hero keeping many moving parts in sync with each other
  • Your communication skills will also be outstanding, you’ll use written, phone, and face to face communication to make sure everyone knows what they need to contribute to the bigger picture
  • A background understanding of hotel operations is essential to be successful in this role
  • This will undoubtedly be a high pressure role, so an ability to stay calm and inspire confidence in others is needed, paired with the ability to pivot and problem solve when things inevitably go wrong on occasion

What The Ned can give you:

  • Estimated yearly pay £34,840 - £16.75 per hour including service
  • Complimentary meals in our friendly team restaurant, Neddy’s including monthly payday breakfast
