Our Creamery Team Leader

As Creamery Team Leader, you’ll be at the heart of delivering exceptional guest experiences in our beautifully designed restaurant and café space. Leading from the front, you’ll inspire and support the front-of-house team while ensuring every service runs seamlessly. From welcoming guests to maintaining outstanding standards across the restaurant, you’ll play a key role in creating memorable moments that reflect the warmth, quality and charm of The Newt in Somerset.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced hospitality professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys developing people and takes pride in delivering consistently high standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the front-of-house team during daily service
  • Deliver exceptional guest experiences with a warm and professional approach
  • Support recruitment, onboarding and training of team members
  • Maintain consistently high standards across service and presentation
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP, food safety and health & safety standards
  • Assist with stock control, ordering and waste management
  • Coach and motivate team members through hands-on leadership
  • Build strong relationships across departments to support smooth operations

What we're looking for

  • Previous leadership experience within a busy restaurant environment
  • Experienced Barista skills
  • A confident and approachable leader with excellent communication skills
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities
  • Calm under pressure with a proactive and hands-on attitude
  • Passion for hospitality, food and exceptional guest service
  • High attention to detail and commitment to standards
  • Comfortable using hospitality systems and Microsoft Office

The Creamery Restaurant welcomes visitors to this part of Somerset, and wave passengers off on journeys around the UK. With a big nod to the golden age of travel, the café serves a perfectly executed small menu, of brasserie classics that shine a light on the craftmanship of the Newts Butchers, Cheesemakers Bakers and Growers. Leaning on classic cooking methods expect quintessential dishes with a Newt in Somerset focus.

Outside, we have a beautifully restored train carriage, where we deliver a luxurious afternoon tea experience inspired by traditional 1912-era practices. This immersive and elegant setting offers guests a refined experience, combining historical charm with impeccable service.
